10 Marla First Floor House Design in Jalil Town Gujranwala

his project, located in Jalil Town, Gujranwala, was designed for our client Shahida, who required the development of a first floor over an already constructed ground floor. Unlike new house designs where everything starts from scratch, this project involved careful planning, structural evaluation, and intelligent design solutions to ensure that the additional floor could be constructed safely and efficiently. In many residential areas of Gujranwala, especially in established neighborhoods like Jalil Town, houses are often initially built as single-storey units without considering future vertical expansion. When the need arises to construct a second floor, it introduces multiple technical challenges — and this project was a perfect example of that scenario. 🧱 Project Challenge: Misaligned Structural Walls The most critical challenge in this project was that the existing ground floor walls did not align with the proposed first floor layout. This is a common issue in renovation and extension projects, but if not handled properly, it can lead to serious structural problems. Misaligned walls mean that: Load cannot transfer directly downward Structural stress becomes uneven Risk of cracks and long-term instability increases Instead of forcing the design to match the existing structure (which often compromises functionality), a more professional approach was adopted — balancing design requirements with structural safety. 🏗️ Structural Assessment & Solution Before starting the design process, a detailed structural assessment of the building was carried out. The purpose was to understand how much load the existing structure could bear and how the new floor could be integrated safely. Based on this evaluation, the following solutions were implemented: ✔️ Load Redistribution Planning Special attention was given to how the load of the first floor would transfer to the ground floor. Since walls were not aligned, direct load paths were not available everywhere. ✔️ Beam Integration Reinforced concrete beams were introduced at strategic locations to carry loads from upper walls and distribute them safely to structural supports below. ✔️ Structural Balancing The design was adjusted in such a way that heavy loads were minimized in unsupported areas, ensuring better balance and stability. ✔️ Lightweight Construction Strategy Where possible, lighter construction materials and techniques were considered to reduce the overall load on the structure. These measures ensured that the house remains safe, stable, and durable for long-term use, even after vertical expansion. 📐 First Floor Layout Planning According to the layout provided in the project drawing , the first floor was designed to provide a complete and comfortable living experience for a modern family. 🛏️ Bedrooms The design includes multiple spacious bedrooms, each planned with proper dimensions (around 12’ x 15’) to ensure comfort, ventilation, and usability. The placement of bedrooms also ensures privacy from common areas. 👗 Dressing Rooms Attached dressing areas have been incorporated with selected bedrooms, enhancing functionality and adding a touch of modern living standards. 🚿 Bathrooms (W.C) Bathrooms are positioned strategically to align with plumbing feasibility from the ground floor, reducing construction complexity and cost. 🍽️ Kitchen A well-proportioned kitchen (approximately 12’ x 12’) has been designed with practical workflow in mind. Proper ventilation and accessibility make it suitable for everyday use. 🛋️ TV Lounge The TV lounge acts as the central family space, connecting all rooms. It is designed to be open, comfortable, and ideal for gatherings. 🧺 Laundry Area A dedicated laundry space has been included, which is often overlooked but plays an important role in maintaining organized living. 🌿 Design Philosophy The design approach for this project was based on three key principles: 1. Structural Safety First No design decision was made without considering its impact on the building’s stability. 2. Functional Planning Each space was designed to serve a clear purpose, ensuring maximum usability without wasted areas. 3. Modern Living Standards The layout reflects the needs of a modern family, including privacy, comfort, and efficient circulation. ⚠️ Why Professional Planning is Important House extensions are often underestimated. Many homeowners attempt to construct additional floors without proper design or structural consultation, which can lead to: Cracks appearing in walls after construction Uneven load distribution Reduced lifespan of the building Safety risks for residents This project highlights how proper planning can prevent all these issues and deliver a result that is both safe and aesthetically pleasing. 📍 Jalil Town – A Growing Residential Hub Jalil Town, Gujranwala, is an area where many families are upgrading their homes instead of relocating. With increasing land costs, vertical expansion has become a practical solution. Projects like this demonstrate how existing houses can be transformed into multi-storey, functional homes with the right expertise. 🏡 Project Outcome The final design successfully achieved: ✔️ Safe first floor construction ✔️ Proper load management ✔️ Modern and functional layout ✔️ Efficient use of available space ✔️ Long-term structural reliability This project stands as a strong example of how thoughtful architectural planning can overcome structural limitations and deliver high-quality results. 📞 Get Your House Designed If you are planning to construct a first floor, second floor, or modify your existing house in Gujranwala, professional guidance is essential. 📱 03095747097 🌐 nakshagujranwala.com
